More Random Nail Spam...

Well hello there,

How are you all? I hope you're better than I am! I seem to have done something funky to my back. (Yes, I am like a walking medical issue - there is always something lol!) Alas, it means I've had to have a few pain killers now and then - and they do a really good job of making me drowsy and sleepy - so no computer time for me!

It probably has something to do with the entire week we spent having a good spring clean! I never thought of my house as messy, just a little cluttered in places. So I roped the Mr. into helping me have a good sort out. Very therapeutic! And, dare I admit, maybe my house WAS messy. (Three car's full to the local tip/recycling centre...) There's still some stuff to do - like things to eBay, things to donate to charity, and a final run to recycle an old TV. I didn't realise we had acquired so much junk! Ooops! Also, during this epic tidy-a-thon, we discovered that we've had a leaky pipe for a while, which has caused much stress, and will probably cause more before its completely resolved! Oh well...!

As a result of our hard work, there were a few casualties in the nail department. Which sucks, but at least my house makes me happier! Whilst I'm getting back into a better shape, here are a few old pictures again - as the title suggests, some random spam!

I loved this wrapping paper - I used it for pass the parcel for my sister's hen party. It's so cute! And so, I had to do a mani inspired by it!

Finally, a terrible photo, but it shows the pink shimmer in the blue. Sinful Colors Cinderella and Pinky Glitter. <3

Nail Art? Nail Doodle Perhaps...

Hi Everyone,

Today I am going to share with you the result of another bout of boredom.

Maybe you have been here before - you want to paint your nails and do something other than just colour them. You want a bit of something to customise your digits. But, you can't be bothered to think up something clever, or even google for something to try yourself.

Perhaps, like me, you armed yourself with a nail art pen and just doodled.

I know, pathetic, aren't I?? Haha!

Well, here is my finished nail doodle! What do you think?

This is about two coats of a Primark polish from a while back called Urban. It came as part of a set, and is the main reason I bought the set. I'm a sucker for these turquoise-y shades.

My accent finger has a bit of a mock tudor type pattern going on - which I do actually kinda like. I have no idea what I was thinking with my other fingers. Random much? I should have just carried on with the same pattern all over, but whatever. I did this with my Claire's Accessories nail art pen in Silver.

As you can see from the length of my talons, this was before the great nail-break depression of 2012. If I can manage to get them to grow to a nice length again, I might just give it a try - I'm thinking hot pink and black next time round.

Do you ever just doodle on your nails, or do you stick to paper? Am I the only one mad enough??

Primark Polishes

Hi everyone,

I thought I would share with you a little collection from Primark - of all places. As someone who is perpetually skint (probably something to do with buying far too much polish...), should I need something new for my wardrobe, I tend to head there. And I tend to browse for a good while at the accessories and beauty bits. For my mega thick, waist long hair - Primark clips keep everything secure. For a necklace to go with an outfit that I might only wear once a year? Primark. Oh, and cheap sunglasses so I don't scratch my coveted Chanel ones? Primark!

I must confess, I was slightly upset and disturbed about the discontinuation of their beauty range. I've had a few things that I was really pleased with! And it's always great for picking up cheap nail files and eyelashes etc.So you can imagine how pleased I was to see this little set of polishes on their shelves!

£2? Excellent.

Unfortunately, I have no idea of how long they will last without chipping etc, as I have swatched them but not worn them. But, the pretties!! And for me, and many people, all we ask for is 1 day of no chipping. Polish gets changed daily, no?

Anyway! Chunky gold glitter! Metallics! Shimmery gold!

 I confess, it was the glitter that spoke to me. Had to have it. Deborah Lippman's Boom Boom Pow might have 24k gold dust in it, but it's about £20 a bottle. This is scary close, and it cost 50p. Well, £2, but with three free polishes? Whatever!

I must also add, I do have the lovely Golden Goddess gold glitter polish from ELF, but it does have holographic glitters in too, and a tendency to turn your mani a bit yellow.

Oh the pretties! I can not tell you enough how much I love this polish and this manicure. It's just so pretty and elegant, glittery - but not juvenile! It's grown up glam!

Next up is the Bronze metallic polish - this is one I will be wearing a lot during the sun - it will look beautiful with a tan!!

These metallics are a bit streaky, but they dry very fast. Application is relatively easy too, despite the fiddly lids. Personally, I can't complain. This bronze is really lovely, and has a slight pink rose-goldish tint to it. It's won a place in my summer favourites stash, and I haven't even tried it with a tan yet! Bring back the sun - I want to worship it some more ;)

The silver is probably my least favourite out of this set - I'm not sure why. The streaks are a bit more visible. *shrugs* I think that silver seems a bit more cold to me, whereas the bronze and gold colours scream sunshine to me, and who doesn't love summer??!

If anything, I think that the silver might be good for stamping with - although it does dry pretty quickly!


Last but not least, there is our little gold sheer polish, which I find to be kind of sweet! For coverage, it does take a lot of coats, but I have layered it over a couple of different polishes.

 From left to right (index to pinky): two coats over a black creme, one coat over the Primark Bronze, four coats on its own, and two coats over a white creme. Personally, I am loving the gold and white combination, but maybe just with one coat next time! Again, I know I keep harping on about it, but I think it will be a nice subtle summer look, a great change from all the neon and brights we're due to see!

Finally, whilst these might not be the absolute best polishes on the planet, I do think that they are a fantastic buy - especially as they cost so little. Each bottle is 6ml in size, so I can see myself using my little top coat pretty quickly - my only worry is that you guys will buy them all before I get a chance to get back and stock up on more!!

More Nails From Last Week!

Hello again!

I'll try and make this a relatively quick post, as to be honest, I should be doing other things. Like getting dinner ready and having a tidy up.

Tuesday

A red ombre/gradient nail mani!!

As my now Sister-in-Law Sophie had chosen a gorgeous wine-ish purplish dress for us bridesmaids to wear, she asked if I had any recommendations for nail polish. Well, of course I did!

She decided on No. 7's Damson Dream (which you shall see sooooon), but as I was rooting through my various polishes, I figured I would play with a few. At once. Like this!!



This is, from thumb to pinky:

ELF -  Red Velvet (mmmm cupcakes)

Wednesday

Please excuse the tip wear! And the fact that my top coat ate some of my dots. But I forgot to photograph anything before work. In fact, if I had, I probably would have been late! Ooops!

This is what I declare to be the result of my Pound Shop Plunder!

Ok, so I didn't actually steal them, but for £1 per polish, it felt like it!

And it felt good!! Muhahaha!!

This is Revlon's Cloud (pale blue) and Stormy (greyish taupey brown).

And yes, £1 each. I also got Revlon's Peach Nectar, but I expect that will be a whole other post!

Thursday and Friday

This is OPI's Be A Dahlia Won't You, layered with a Claire's Accessories dark grey glitter.The glitter doesn't have a name I'm afraid, but I like it, nonetheless!

Unfortunately, this did not photograph anywhere near as nicely as it looked on the nail. My first intention was to 'jelly sandwich' these two polishes, but I couldn't bring myself to do it. It was too striking and pretty. In fact, my little shopping trip on Friday left me all embarrassed from all of the compliments I was getting for this mani! I will be doing this again, the hot pink is irresistible!

This is one pink I will be wearing again and again! Especially with a tan!!





Friday Evening and Saturday

Finally, for my Brother and Sister-in-Law's wedding (woooot!), the Bridesmaid, and the Bride herself all wore No.7's Damson Dream.

Again, apologies for the shoddy picture, but it was late. And I should have been in bed instead of doing my nails, but I had far too much to do the following day. This is a lovely plummy red with beautiful shimmer, and the slightest teensiest hint at a duochrome. Either that, or I had drunk far too much wine at the wedding and imagined it whilst staring at my own nails.

Or maybe both!
