A Change Will Do You Good...

Hi Everyone,

I made a change. Only a small one, in the grand scheme of things, but a good one. I broke the nude pattern.

Which, if you haven't read the last few posts, probably seems like a pretty random statement.

It's been a while since I have done any actual nail art. It's on my mind a fair bit - I want to try stamping again, I want to use my dotting tools more, I want to use polishes that have been sat on my shelf and never actually used. And don't get me started on the 60-odd nail art pens I bought in a job lot a couple of years ago and barely even used...

So, with that in mind, and an hour or so to spare, I got the paints out.

By paint, I mean polish of course! And this is what I came up with!

I don't know what inspired me to come up with this, but I loved it. It was just so random and bright. I actually kept the Headline Colors nude Centerfold as my base (does that count as cheating?) but managed to use the rather unused and previously unloved China Glaze polish in Papaya Punch, which is that gorgeous orangey yellow! It makes me think of sweet and juicy fruit!Yum!

I also used China Glaze Wicked Style (the bright pink) and Sinful Colors Sweet Nothing (Turquoise-y blue).

So... we have dotting tools - Check!
Unused polishes - Check!
Nail art pens - Check! (Well, one at least!)
And nail art... - Double Check!

It's funny, I feel like this has really inspired me to do more nail art in the future! A change really does do you good!

Remember, Remember...

The Fifth of November!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick one from me today, as I wanted to share my fireworks mani with you!

 

This is two coats of Topshop's Gypsy Night, with a couple of stripes from various nail art pens to make my rather girly firework! Gypsy night is a brownish black jelly infused with multi-coloured and multi-sized glitter flecks which pop up in different lights! I thought of this one, as the multi-coloured flecks have always made me think of fireworks on a dark sky... but I couldn't resist adding a few of my own!

Whatever you do tonight, please stay safe! A pretty fizz in the sky is not a worthy risk for hurting yourself! And remember our little furry friends who will be terrified of all the loud noises and bangs, or who may have made themselves a little nest in the bottom of your bonfire. Please take a minute to check that all creatures are safe and sound too!

Abstract Nails

Hi Everyone,


I hope you guys are all good, and not suffering too much with the rubbish weather at this time of year! Alas, I have been a busy bee (again) and my nails have taken a slight back seat for a little while! Work is manic, my computer was out of action for a few days and I've had lots to do at home!! (Excuses, excuses - I know!) So, here is another one from the vault - again on my rather short nubbin nails! Hopefully, I'll get myself sorted enough to blog regularly again!!

I used OPI's Skull and Glossbones for the base colour, and went a little bit wild with my nail art pens! The result? Well, random is the first word that comes to mind haha!!

 

I must admit, I'm not really all that happy when I have short nails. It sends me into a weird kind of mourning. But these nails make me smile, for being so random, bright and little bit 80's!

OPI's Mermaids Tears +

Hi Everyone,

Here's a mani I found in my stash of pictures, from quite a while back. I have uncovered lots of forgotten photos, as you can see from the rather short length of my poor nails!! So, you can expect that you will be seeing some pretty random nail posts from me!

This has been done using OPI's Mermaids Tears. On it's own, the colour is beautiful. 

I, however, must have been feeling the need for something more. Using a green striper, in a slightly darker shade, I added a few vertical lines to the tips!

I simple way to add a bit more depth to a single colour mani - subtle, but still pretty!

Comin' Up Daisies!

Hi Everyone,

After my foray into florals a few posts ago, I decided to do it again today, with a slight difference. Again, this is very simple to do, and so satisfying too.

I used the Nails Inc Bluebell polish that came free with In Style magazine - you may remember my review here. Its a very soft blue, which reminds me of hazy Summer days. I then used my trusty Claire's Accessories nail art pen in white for the petals.

The daisies were made by painting crosses on my nails, first an 'x', then a '+', and then filling in the gaps. As the annoying Meerkat says, simples!! Then I used a pastel yellow for the centre - I used Collection 2000's Lemon Soda. Very simples.

Finish with a top coat, and you're done! I am pretty pleased with this to be honest - granted I could have done a better job, but seeing as I did it before work and time was limited, I think its pretty good!

Nail Art? Nail Doodle Perhaps...

Hi Everyone,

Today I am going to share with you the result of another bout of boredom.

Maybe you have been here before - you want to paint your nails and do something other than just colour them. You want a bit of something to customise your digits. But, you can't be bothered to think up something clever, or even google for something to try yourself.

Perhaps, like me, you armed yourself with a nail art pen and just doodled.

I know, pathetic, aren't I?? Haha!

Well, here is my finished nail doodle! What do you think?

This is about two coats of a Primark polish from a while back called Urban. It came as part of a set, and is the main reason I bought the set. I'm a sucker for these turquoise-y shades.

My accent finger has a bit of a mock tudor type pattern going on - which I do actually kinda like. I have no idea what I was thinking with my other fingers. Random much? I should have just carried on with the same pattern all over, but whatever. I did this with my Claire's Accessories nail art pen in Silver.

As you can see from the length of my talons, this was before the great nail-break depression of 2012. If I can manage to get them to grow to a nice length again, I might just give it a try - I'm thinking hot pink and black next time round.

Do you ever just doodle on your nails, or do you stick to paper? Am I the only one mad enough??
